Examination Paper: Question 5

Question: The Reflector

Part A: The Sketch (Time limit: 45 minutes)

Make a pencil sketch of your own reflection in a mirror. Your drawing must include not only your face, but also at least one object that is behind you (visible in the mirror's reflection) and a part of the mirror's frame itself. The goal is to create a portrait that tells a story about a particular moment or mood.

IELTS Preparation Focus: Following Instructions & Visual Interpretation

In IELTS, accurately understanding and following instructions is crucial. For this drawing task, pay close attention to *all* specified elements: your face, a background object *visible in the reflection*, and *part of the mirror's frame*. Imagine you are visually responding to a detailed instruction in a Listening or Reading test. Focus on capturing a likeness, the specific quality of light, and the spatial relationship between your reflection, the background, and the mirror's frame.
